  Finally I made it .... this is the first english release of the CD about the minerals that can be found at Isola Elba, Italy. The minerals are those from the pegmatites. Isola Elba is quite famous, in fact the elbaite name derives from the Elba name !

The CD is with a lot of photos, maps (geologic and topographic maps!) and descriptions of the localities. I personally made most of the photos since in the last 10 years I have been spending at least 15 days every year at Elba for collecting. The topographic maps are very usefull since they are at 1:10000 scale and can be printed easily, also just the details you might need.

There is a nice section dedicated to the Mineralogical Museum of the University of Firenze, Italy where the best tourmaline collection from Elba is taken, the so called "5000 collection".

The CD is very easy to navigate and use. You will find:

  • locality descriptions
  • topographic maps of the whole island
  • details and indications for the many localities to visit
  • lot of photos
  • the list with descriptions of the mineralogical species that can be found in the pegmatites of Elba
  • a gallery of the specimens from the Mineralogical Museum of the University of Firenze, Italy
  • ... and some of the best specimens found in the recent years !
