SANT ILARIO, ISOLA ELBA, ITALY - An other outsider ! a 1.2 cm elbaite shows up on orthoclase crystals of 1-1.5 cm and quartz crystals. The elbaite is terminated in a typical way for the elbaites from Elba quarries. In fact it shows the "paint-brush" shape since it has a large amount of smaller terminated elbaites on the top. As usual there are some albites also. Overall size is 5x5x4.5 cm

FOSSO FORCIONI, SANT ILARIO, ISOLA ELBA, ITALY - Forcioni is one of the oldest areas for elbaites. This is a specimen from an old collection, now dispersed, and being the owner passed at more than 87 yrs of age ... probably it should be found at the beginning of last century, when the Elba quarries were still operated. Almost an hystorical rock ! This nice specimen has 3 elbaites up to 0.8 cm and !! The elbaites from Forcioni have always the typical natural hetching on the top and recrystallization. Real showy specimen of 6x6x3.5 cm

CATRI, SANT ILARIO, ISOLA ELBA, ITALY - Catri is an old locality from where nice elbaites have been collected in the early 90ies. This specimen hosts a nice brown elbaite with a complex and rather unusual termination. The crystal is close to a quartz crystal and emerges from the matrix for 0.7 cm. Overall size is 9x5.5x4 cm.

SAN PIERO, ISOLA ELBA, ITALY - Undamaged elbaite crystal of 0.9 cm shows nicely on this pegmatite specimen. The crystal has a showy brown color at the lower part while it becomes lighter up to violet close to the top. The top pf the crystal is partly covered by foitite and albite micro crystals. Nice specimen of 2.5x2x2 cm.

San Piero, Isola Elba, Livorno, Italy - This rock hosts 3 compenetrated crystals of elbaite. The crystals are 0.5 cm in size and have a nice green color. They are inside a cavity that have been opened. For this reason on one end they are not terminated and the other end is included in some white feldspar. Overall size is 4.5x4.5x3.5 cm.
