ILVAITE

This is the famous Ilvaite from Isola d'Elba, Italy. The name "ilvaite" derives from the ancient name of Elba (i.e. ILVA). This material has been selected from a relatively recent finding in the area of Monte Fico, close to Rio Marina, at Isola Elba.  ITA-D55 ILVAITE and QUARTZ MONTE FICO, RIO MARINA, ISOLA ELBA, LIVORNO, ITALY - This specimen shows several ilvaite crystals nested among quartz crystals. The ilvites are up to 2.5 cm in size with perfect terminations and I count half a dozens terminated crystals here ! Overall size is 7.5x3.5x3 cm.
