SAN PIERO, ISOLA ELBA, ITALY - An other
outsider ! a 1.2 cm elbaite shows up on orthoclase crystals of 1-1.5 cm and
quartz crystals. The elbaite is terminated in a typical way for the elbaites
from Elba quarries. In fact it shows the "paint-brush" shape since it has a
large amount of smaller terminated elbaites on the top. As usual there are
some albites also. Overall size is 5x5x4.5 cm

Terminated, hetched schorlite emerges for 0.7 cm (0.5 cm wide) and stands up
nicely on this rock among quartz crystals. There are other elbaites of 3-5
mm around. Nice rock, overall size is 2x2x2.5 cm
